What changed in 2026
Every major destination has tightened its post study work visa in the last two years, so comparisons written before 2025 are unreliable. The current position:
- ✓UK — the Graduate Route drops from two years to 18 months from January 2027
- ✓Canada — the PGWP now requires an English or French test result (CLB 7 for degree holders, CLB 5 for college graduates), and non-degree programmes must be in an eligible field of study
- ✓Australia — student visa costs and financial requirements have both risen sharply
- ✓All of them — a post study work visa is permission to work, not a promise of permanent residence
